Bemis, one of the largest flexible packaging companies in America and a major manufacturer of pressure sensitive materials, acquired Walki Films, a division of UPM-Kymmene for USD 70 million. Walki Films manufactures vacuum and modified plastic films for the food industry. It now constitutes the largest component of Bemis’ European Operations. The acquisition includes manufacturing plants in Valkeakoski, Finland, and Epernon, France, that specialize in making packaging for meat, cheese and other fresh foods, as well as 500 employees.
